MERIDIAN, Miss. - Shooting For a Cure begins just a week from today. This will be the 8th annual event hosted by the East Mississippi Electric Power Association to go toward a worthy cause. The event will be held Friday, April 15th and Saturday April 16th, 2021.
“It’s just grown over the years and we’re just excited that the money does go to the American Cancer Society and this will also be the third year it goes to Anderson’s Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund which allows us to donate money to support finding a cure," said Margaret Brewer of EMEPA.
Shooters will aim fire at Camp Binachi this year with teammates or individually. Brewer says groups are signing up and they’ve already raised $20,000 this year.
“We still have teams signing up and sponsorships coming in. In the last seven years, we’ve raised over $100,000 through this event so it’s something that we’re really proud of.”
Shooters are asked to follow COVID-19 guidelines during this event.
“We will always keep the CDC guidelines that are in place at the time of the event," said Brewer. We will instead of having a buffet just offer to-go plates for everyone to pick up their own plate and everyone keeps their social distance."
