Small businesses around the world have suffered to some degree from covid. One local restaurant in Mississippi is in survival mode and says covid won't stop their plans.

It’s a new year but COVID is still a factor and many businesses have been impacted in many different ways. The result of the pandemic has created a variety of economic challenges for small businesses in communities across the country but local restaurant The Bridge Street Grill are pushing through and even has plans on expanding their business.

"Tough, we thought we were going to have to close, we hung in there we kept on saying we were going to give it one more day and we hung in there until the fire," said Co-Owner Teresa Simmons.

Those were the words from bridge street grill co-owner who knows first hands of the struggle of keeping their business open during covid and also suffered from a fire in their establishment.

"We almost just closed the door, it was tough."

The fight to keep their restaurant open hasn't been an easy ride Simmons tells us the benefits of being in their local hometown.

"I think to serve our community everyone wanted to see it stay open and thrive and I believe to just serve the community."

Simmons says they get visitors from all over she says mostly they say they find them online. One customer tells us what brought him to the restaurant.

"It has great people here who like to help us out, this is only 2 of our kids we have 6 kids and when we usually come in with the whole crew they take good care of," said Chad Leblancc.

With expansion plans soon underway covid hasn't made it easy for them from causing many delays.

Co-Owner Shane Simmons had this to say about current delays, "There are still several items that we don’t have that we are still trying to get that is taking a long time to be able to get those pieces of equipment in. But once we get all those pieces in we will have all the pieces of the puzzle that we need to then hopefully be able to get it open and operating within the next few months."
