Sounthern Agcredit opens in downtown Meridian.

Meridian MS - Southern Agcredit has several locations across Mississippi, and now they have opened in downtown Meridian.

Vice president Stephen Bass says the credit union doesn’t only cater to farmers but looks forward to helping the community as well. “Basically, anything outside the city limits that’s country related, we can finance.”

When asked why someone would finance with Southern Agcredit instead of another bank, Stephen simply answers, it’s the choice of the people. “So, when you finance land with Southern Agcredit, you become an owner of our bank. That kind of sets us apart from others. You get to have a say so, and voting rights in our bank.”

The opening is getting support from the community. Patrick Stubbs of Meridian feels this business will benefit the city of Meridian. “It gives consumers another option for lending when they want to buy that recreational piece of land, they are lending institutions, that have a little bit different option out there.”

The Southern Agcredit company promises that its not just for farmers, but for those looking to invest in other property as well.
