Special Election For Ward 2 Council Seat Scheduled For June 23

In Meridian, the last chance for Ward 2 Residents to vote absentee before the special election for Ward 2’s city council seat on Tuesday, June 23 , is today before noon on the first floor of city hall.

The special election is taking place due to the removal of Tyrone Johnson as Ward 2’s councilman in February this year. The two candidates running for the Ward 2 city council seat are Scott Bancroft and Dwayne Davis. The voting precincts for this election are the Velma Young Community Center, The Meridian Little Theater, and Oak Grove Baptist Church. Voting will take place from 7am-7pm, and it is encouraged that voters wear a mask to voting precincts to continue to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
