Students in the Lauderdale County School District are now able to access secure WiFi hotspots in the parking lots of all of the EMEPA offices.

The hotspots provided by the East Mississippi Electric Power Association are now accessible to students, in addition to the hotspots that can be used on each of the school campuses in the Lauderdale County School District, serving as great resource for students as they continue to utilize online learning.

“The more that we can increase access for our students, regardless of where they’re geographically limited, we’re just basically increasing equity across our district. We’re giving more students the opportunity to connect, we’re providing more opportunities for the parents and guardians to really provide the means right now, that are necessary, because of COVID-19, to connect to those distance learning and digital learning platforms,” said Marie Roberts, LCSD Instructional Technologist.

Dr. Roberts shared that she is excited the district is now able to provide students with these additional hotspots.

“We honestly couldn’t do without partners, like EMEPA who have stepped in and really tried to promote the importance of access for our students and it’s one of those things that’s really exciting to see the community coming together to support our students,” said Dr. Roberts.

The Lauderdale County School District has additional information on how students and parents can access the internet through the WiFi hotspots provided by EMEPA on the district’s website.
