Suspicious Package Detected At NAS Meridian This Afternoon

Today, a suspicious package was detected on base at NAS Meridian around 1:15 pm.

The Clinton Police Department Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team has cleared the suspicious package detected inside a building onboard at Naval Air Station Meridian. No explosive materials were found. All personnel are accounted for and no injuries were reported during the incident. Captain Brian Horstman, Commanding Officer gave a statement saying “Our objective is to have a positive outcome in these types of situations, and today was one of those days. Our security team did an outstanding job maintaining the scene and working with outside agencies including the EOD Team, LEMA and Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department”.
