Today, a teacher at Lamar School was presented with The Teacher of the Year Award by the G.V. Sonny Montgomery Chapter of the Air Force Association in Meridian.
The award was presented by Langford Knight with the local chapter of the Air Force Association and Congressman Michael Guest, to Mrs. Phyllis skipper who teaches geometry, pre-calculus, and calculus at Lamar School, and has been teaching there for 32 years.

“It’s very humbling to receive this honor and as I said this before, I feel like I’m a representative of many great teachers at Lamar School or at least we’ve been blessed to have a great faculty and I get to represent them by receiving this and –it’s humbling, it really is,” said Phyllis Skipper, recipient of AFA Teacher of Year Award.
Each year, the Air Force Association recognizes a teacher with this award for their work in science, technology, engineering, and math.
