Today in Meridian, the MAX and Any Given Child-Meridian hosted the second annual “Arts Integration Day” at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience, where teachers from different school districts in the state were able to learn new ways to incorporate the arts into their lesson plans.
As a part of the Any Given Child Initiative, teachers were able to learn about drama, dance, visual arts and music, and how they can utilize the arts in their classrooms. The hands-on experience provided teachers with the opportunity to experience the arts, before applying them to their lesson plans for ELA, Math, Science, And Social Studies.

“We do know that there are challenges ahead of us, with distance learning, with hybrid learning, and many of these methods have been used in traditional classrooms for a long time. So, for example, our drama person who is working with our teachers is teaching them some drama strategies using masks, which we’re going to be wearing masks at school probably. So, she’s using that as a part of her arts integration portion for what she’s doing today with her teachers,” said Clair Huff, Arts Coordinator for the Meridian Public-School District.
Teachers that attended "Arts Integration Day" at the MAX will also be able to utilize lesson plans provided on the Any Given Child-Meridian’s website, to further assist them with applying the arts in their classrooms once school begins.
