Could higher prices for groceries change what you and your family are going to cook this Thanksgiving? The average price for a family Thanksgiving meal was $47 in 2020. This year its expected increase about 5%.

The price change is coming from inflation, trade policies, and labor shortages.
However, the price increase on groceries isn’t changing some people's plan on sticking with a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
We took to the streets to ask people if grocery price increase will affect how they spend their Thanksgiving.
“It’s that one meal that you look forward to the entire year. I’ll change my grocery budget for the month to make sure that it happens”
“My wife is buying different things now. She’s not prioritizing things that she would have bought before. We’re kind of rationing some stuff but on Thanksgiving, we’ll save up and do whatever we need to do to make it happen and pull it off”

Deciding who’s going to buy certain items or dividing the cost of the meal is also a way people are planning on attacking the price increase.
“We buy food as a family, so it’s not one person buying it. "It’s still like multiple people bringing something to dinner”
This Thanksgiving could look a little different but for most having a traditional holiday meal is a must.
