Marion, MS - After months of detours around the town of Marion to avoid the bridge construction, you can finally go back to driving your normal routes today!
Mayor Larry Gill was thrilled to announce that all of Dale Drive is back open for traffic.
“The bridge is open now and we’re excited about it, and look we are hoping that people will come patronize here in Marion. As always were excited about where Marion is and were more excited about where Marion is headed.”
Mayor Gill said that the contract allowed for 90 days, but the crew got it done in 60.
Not only has the traffic been an issue for the town, but business owners are ready to get their normal amount of customers back in their stores.
“I know that the businesses are going to be very excited to see this bridge open. They’ll get the traffic that they had prior to the bridge, my sincere hope is that they’ll have more traffic and that business is better than when we closed the bridge,” said Mayor Gill.
Local business owner, Marna Dyess, told Twin States News how much it will help to have the Dale Drive back open.
“I’m excited! I’m hoping my customers come back. At one o’clock today everybody just come on to Marna’s and get whatever you need for the holidays.”
