The Christmas Tree in Downtown Meridian has been lit for the Holiday Season.

Meridian, MS - We were there when they flipped the switch... lighting up the 34-foot Christmas Tree Downtown.

Residents filled the City Hall lawn, full of Holiday Spirit, to watch the ceremony and kick off the season.

It's an annual tradition cherished by many.

Local Christmas enthusiast, Delilah Dezarraga, expresses why Christmas is so important to her.

"It makes me very happy and joyful because it gives us like a very uplifting spirit and makes us happy every single year it comes around and it makes others happy and brings joy to the world."

The Magnolia Middle School Choir and Carol Merrill’s Academy had special performances for everyone in attendance.
