A local non-profit organization that connects residents with volunteer opportunities with other non-profit organizations in the surrounding area anticipates a great need for volunteers as we enter the cooler months.
The East Mississippi Hub for Volunteers main goal is to act as an advocate, facilitator, and connector for effective volunteerism in the community.
Director for the East Mississippi Hub for Volunteers, Casey Culpepper, said that many organizations in the community are in need of volunteers, because the pandemic has greatly impacted many local non-profits. She also said that they are hoping to get more younger volunteers, since many older volunteers are unable to volunteer due to the pandemic.
“Non-profits need all the help they can get right now, because of COVID, there’s been a strain on families. ” said Casey Culpepper.
She stated in addition that there are many upcoming volunteer options for local residents to participate in for the fall and winter months, and that she has already begun to see people signing up to help.
“We just posted a lot of opportunities for thanksgiving and Christmas, --particularly Christmas projects, with Salvation Army, Wesley House, and Care Lodge. They’ll be conducting a Christmas project this year –like they normally do, and so far, I’ve had a good volunteer response to help with these opportunities,” said Culpepper.

In honor of National Make A Difference Day, on October 24, the East Mississippi Hub for Volunteers invites members of the community to volunteer with a local non-profit organization, and a list of volunteer opportunities can be found listed on its website.
