The Meridian Council of the Arts announces the Community Arts Grant recipients

Six local organizations in the queen city received Grants to further their creativity.

The Meridian Council of the Arts has named the recipients for the 2022 Community Arts Grant. The Community Arts Program offers financial assistance to organizations and artists in Meridian and the Lauderdale County area.


"So the Meridian Council for the Arts has been the City's recognized Arts Organization since 1978. And we are fortunate to be able to award grants to other groups with an art focus in the community," stated Council President Holley Davis.


Grants are awarded to nonprofit art organizations, such as neighborhood associations, schools, Colleges, Universities, and Public and Social Service Agencies.


"It's important for us to show support to the other organizations in the community that is promoting the arts and community involvement and diversity and trying to pull together with an art focus," said Davis.


The Grant Application took place from December 1st until January 14th and today they are awarding the recipients the checks we hear from the recipient from the Jimmie Rogers Foundation


"We are so excited, we are so happy for what the meridian arts council has done for our community they really help foster the art," said Leslie Lee.


Grant recipients from The Meridian Public School District tell us what the grant will help them accomplish.

We are hosting a district arts showcase and that through any given child in meridian so in this district art show we wanted to have an art gallery that we can showcase student’s artwork throughout the school year," said Tracy Scott.


Other recipients included The Max, Meridian Industrial Heritage Museum, Meridian Restoration Foundation, and The Meridian Symphony Orchestra.
