The Meridian Little Theater to present 'The Sound of Music' Dec.10

The Meridian Little Theater is preparing for its opening night, this Thursday, for its second production in its 88th season, “The Sound of Music”.

The Meridian Little Theater, a community theater in Meridian, began its 88th season in October with the musical “Newsies”, which was scheduled to open in the spring, but was postponed due to the pandemic. The theater is once again is welcoming guests back, to see more than 50 local actors from the surrounding area, take to the stage for “the Sound of Music”. The musical will show until December 15, and seating in the theater will be limited at 50% capacity. “Guidelines are still in place. We do spray the theater, we have it all maintained. We’ve been very, very, dedicated to seeing to it that we’re socially distanced. We’re following the guidelines, also, of a pulmonologist, here in Meridian. That tells us that we’re doing the right thing, the CDC, and LEMA have been a participant also, in what we do to make sure that we are doing everything by the books,” said Sidney Covington, President of the Meridian Little Theater's Board of Directors.

The Meridian Little Theater is a non-profit organization, and all proceeds from its shows will benefit the community theater’s upcoming productions.
