Tonight, students with the Meridian Public-School District, and the Quitman School District began the 2020-2021 school year learning virtually with a distance learning plan, but this week both districts' will be entering the next phase of their return to school plan.

The Meridian Public-School District and the Quitman School District have students returning to classrooms for in-person learning. With both districts still providing students with the opportunity to continue learning via distance learning, many parents are still opting for the in-person learning option.
One parent with the Quitman School District shared that she is looking forward to her children returning to on-campus learning, after weeks of distance learning.
“It’s a little bit of a relief for us, because we both work. So, it’s been a challenge trying to be an employee and a teacher,” said Autumn Feliciana, children attend school in the Quitman School District.
Another woman shared that she has six grandkids attending school with the Meridian Public-School District, and is concerned about them returning to the classroom during the pandemic.
“I’m concerned about it, because it’s still a lot of the pandemic going on, a lot of kids, a lot of people still getting the coronavirus, and my thought is I think its not safe for them to go right now, but they still got some kids going to school,” said Sandra Dean, concerned about the students returning to campus.
“It’s going to be hard for them to keep a mask on, it’s probably going to be a little bit of a challenge trying to social distance,” said Feliciana.

Both the Meridian Public-School District and the Quitman School District have the details of their current plans for students return for on campus learning on September 8, on each of their websites.
