The Salvation Army's Women's Auxiliary Organization

Some changes may be coming to the salvation army for the better. Hoping to receive more help they are bringing back The Women’s Auxiliary Organization.

For the first time in over 27 years, The Salvation Army may be bringing back the Women’s Auxiliary Organization. Today they held their first interest meeting with different women from the community. Captain Tamara Robb tells us more about the group.

"So today we have an organizational meeting for our Women's Auxiliary, and we're looking for ladies in the community, who are willing to support The Salvation Army. Come alongside us, and help us with different events," said Robb.

Robb says that she worked in other communities where the organization had a positive influence and says that she is excited about the future.

Robb stated, "We need volunteers to come alongside us. I've worked in other communities where the Women's Auxiliary has helped with Angel Tree and different special fundraising events. I've seen the impact that those ladies have. I mean, they're a force to be reckoned with. So I'm excited about joining forces with the women here."

A Salvation Army Board Member says that she is looking forward to reaching out to women in the community to be a part of the organization.

"We would love to have a building full of women who are ready to work and ready to get into the community and dig in and help us reach out and serve those in the Meridian area," said Andrea Germany.

A few women from the community told us why they were interested in being a part of the organization.

"I'm very interested in our community and the growth, children, and elderly. I just feel like volunteering is a very, very integral part of being a complete citizen. I am retired. I have the time. I have the energy," said Barbara Ivy.

KellyJean Hills said, "This was just the right fit for me. I think women in our community aren't seen enough and aren't heard enough. And to me, that's just important. This is well needed. So absolutely, this was a no-brainer. I had to be a part of it."

Those interested in joining the Women's Auxiliary can contact The Salvation Army for more information.
