Every holiday season the Wesley House Community Center hosts its Christmas for Kids Program. Every year they reach out to the community in hopes they will sponsor a kid in the Foster Care System to have a special Christmas morning. This year they are doing the same and need the community’s help.

"So we do a foster care children's Christmas program and we work with child protective services locally, and they will send us children's wish lists with toys and things on their wish list. So we work with our community and we get sponsors for those wish lists," explained Elauren Voweel, the Victims Advocate Coordinator.
Right now the Wesley House has about 40 kids remaining that are in need of sponsorship.
"So this next week, we really want to do a big push. We still have 40 kids left that need to be sponsored. So you or your community service organization or your church group can come together and sponsor a child. And that would be a great way to give back to your community," said Julianna Stephens, the Community Outreach Specialist.
Being in a position to help make sure children in the system have Christmas this year Stephens shares how that feels.
"It feels good. It feels better to give than it is to receive. And we're excited to be able to, you know, help contribute to giving children a Christmas that otherwise would not be able to have one," stated Stephens.
The Christmas for Kids Program has been making sure children in the system have a Christmas for several years now and Stephens said the success of the program is thanks to the community and sponsors.
"So we're really thankful for all of our sponsors that come and sponsor these foster children. We can't do what we do without our community and without the support of them and our sponsors," she said.
If you are interested in sponsoring a kid contact the Wesley House Community Center at (601)485-4736 ext 20. They also ask that all gifts be returned by December 12th.
