Third Thursday Brings Community Out

Meridian’s Third Thursday event was a huge hit. The community came out to enjoy a live band, and food and even had the chance to win some money.

Several people were in downtown Meridian enjoying the Third Thursday event. Holley Davis with the Meridian Council for the Art told Twin States News what it took to prepare.

“This is our third year to do Third Thursday. So, we've kind of gotten the kinks worked out a little bit, but it's grown every year so what goes into planning is to find a band and to find our sponsors and find our food trucks, our artists”, said Davis. “We like to use local artists or artists that have a tie to Meridian in some way.”

Diante Coker has lived in Meridian his whole life; he says he is happy to be seeing Meridian festivities start to grow.

"So, I work downtown, I'm always downtown. I like just seeing what Meridian's doing and how we're growing and coming together as a community and really embracing this new age of, actually having stuff to do in town.”

The night was filled with excitement thanks to the blues band, food trucks, and beverages. Beverly Young says you missed out if you did not come out to the event.

“I’m really enjoying the event. It's a nice, nice evening. The music is smooth. Just something you can sit around and listen to and then enjoy yourself”, said Young. “The atmosphere is great, and the temperature is perfect, so if you don't come out, you missed a treat.

The next huge event is the Three-foot Festival which will also be in Dumont Plaza beginning on May 13.
