The Fall season is officially here and if you haven’t begun getting your house prepared for the cold days ahead, here is why you should start.

Proactive home maintenance in the Fall could not only benefit how you feel in your home but also how your wallet is affected. General manager, Scotty Lucas, of The Service Company explained just how important staying ahead is.

“Several things can happen if you don’t prepare”, said Lucas. “You can get caught in a situation where you have no heat. You can end up with frozen or busted pipes. Rodents getting in the attics because it’s not sealed properly then costing thousands of dollars in damage.”

Things like cleaning furnaces and sealing cracks and gaps around the door are tasks that should be done during the early Fall stage. Meridians are practicing fall clean-up by making sure their yards look nice and getting the last bit of summer debris taken care of.

“We’re doing minor stuff to get prepared for the fall”, said Meridian James Lewis. “Things such as filling in cracks and stuff like that.”

Meridians like Michael Smith are focusing on keeping their yard looking nice.

“We’re cleaning out the gutters, getting all the leaves up, and getting lawns mowed. We’re just trying to get the last yard clean ups from the end of the summer and make everything look good for the fall”- Michael Smith
