Hundreds of people gathered at a church here in Meridian for a two-day state Evangelism Conference that continued today. Twin States News has more on how people feel about being back in an in-person service after months of having service virtually.

Crowds of people from across Mississippi and out of state came together at Northcrest Baptist church to continue the “Unhindered” state conference.
“The conference brings in pastors and church leaders from across the state. It’s an opportunity to gather and reach people in this community and our state and world with the gospel”, said Executive Pastor of Northcrest Baptist, Wade Phillips.
After countless months of church services being held virtually, pastors and members in the congregation were pleased to be getting back to in-person services.
“Churches have had a struggle with opening back up so I’m so thankful for the freedom that people have with going, masking, and unmasking”, stated David Burton of David Burton Ministries. “That’s an individual's choice but I feel like churches are now feeling and sensing that God wants them back into that worship.”

The evangelism conference was the church’s first since COVID. Executive Pastor, Phillips says the crowd has been the largest they have had in months.
“It’s nice to be moving in that direction. Omicron slowed us down, so we still feel like we have a way to go but we are slowly seeing our people come back. We believe when this wave ends, we are going to see them come in more.”
Senior Pastor Dan Lanier is hoping that participants of the conference will leave with a sense of encouragement.
“A renewed sense of hope and peace through the Lord Jesus Christ and being together as people of God and encouraging each other and just knowing that our hope is in Jesus Christ”
The conference will end today with the last word at 6:30.
