The Union Public School District announced they are beginning its staggered school re-entry on August 5th and extending it through August 28th due to cases rising across the state.
This plan rules students will attend on-campus learning twice per week and work remotely three days a week, with Friday being virtual for everyone.
“The first two days we’re going to put out, we’re going to have students A-I here on campus and the second day we’ll have J-Z,” says Superintendent Tyler Hansford. “When we extended the plan, we needed to help parents who may be working or may need some assistance.”
Parents are asked to complete a survey, to inform the district on which traditional learning days are best for their child.
When students return on August 5th and 6th, they’ll have PPE available to them.
“We have hand sanitizer in every room, we’re installing dispensers in the hallways and common areas right now. Also our board will approve a revised plan tonight that will required all students and staff members to wear masks.”
The district says if the school year switches to fully virtual learning, they’ll have plenty supplies for students.
“We have enough devices here in the district that we can put a chromebook in the hand of every student. We are in the process of installing internet hotspots here around campus that students and their families will have access to after school hours.”
