Uptown Meridian Mall Job Fair

Right now, there are twice as many job openings as unemployed people post-pandemic. Right now, is peak time for job seekers to find a job. Uptown Meridian provides an opportunity for job seekers and employers alike.

The job market is hyperactive right now; many Businesses are searching for Employees. Today, at Uptown Meridian, a job fair was held to hopefully connect future employers with employees.

"The starting pay is $17.25 an hour. of course, that increases with experience regarding your salary positions as far as the production supervisor and your H.R," said Kenya Williams

$17 an hour starting is how much Koch Foods are willing to pay its employees for their open positions. Many Businesses attended the Job Fair in hopes of filling job openings.

"Well, I am a firm believer and people don't know what they don't know. So I felt like this was an excellent opportunity to connect with the Community and to let them know what we have going at The City of Meridian," stated Kori Howze.

"We're one of the largest Poultry Companies in the State of Mississippi on this side. so, you know, we wanted to try to give back to the community, make sure we have jobs really for those in the local areas," said Williams.

"Well, today we're out here because we're trying to hire bell ringers for Christmas with the Salvation Army. We're looking for bell ringers to be able to stand out at different stores throughout the season starting November 14th until December 24th," said Roy Fisher.

The Marketing Director for Uptown Meridian Mall says that last year's turnout for the Job Fair was such a success it inspired them to organize another.

"One of the number one issues that our tenants and other businesses have is finding good employees, keeping good employees. so hopefully this will connect prospects with employers and everything will work out," said Debby Delshad.

Other Businesses that are looking to hire employees at the job fair were Cspire, City of Meridian, and Children of Mississippi.
