Senator Giles Ward expressed in a press release stating how relatively low the Mississippi Census was in the 2010, which was 61.3 percent causing Mississippi to lose $13.2 billion in federal dollars.
Mississippi currently ranks 39th in the nation with a 57 percent self-response rate and 51st in the nation in internet response rate at 34.6 percent.
Below are the self-response rate numbers as of July 13, 2020 for the cities and counties in your area. Attached are the dollar figures that these numbers represent for Mississippi in federal dollars. The last column shows how much Mississippians could gain if that specific city or county had a complete count.

To encourage more Mississippians to complete the census form, the US Census Bureau has put together a campaign called #2020CensusPushMS. Yesterday kicked off the campaign and will last until the end of July.
Here’s how you can participate. Take a selfie holding a sign showing why you responded to the 2020 Census, post on a social media website, including the response website, www.my2020census.com and hashtag #2020CensusPushMS to motivate others to respond.
