The Community Health Improvement Network, also known as CHIN, partnered with Anderson Regional Health System to provide a free COIVD lunch and learn to level concerns of the vaccine.

The lunch and learn took place at Freedom Rock Cathedral to educate visitors on the myths and concerns of taking the COIVD vaccination. The leaders of the event are hoping that a friendly neighborhood environment will encourage many people to get the vaccine.
Bishop of the church, Labaron Hedgemon, felt that the event was well needed for the community.
“This is event is important because we are continuing to have many cases”, said Bishop Hedgemon. “ We’re losing many lives, there are many children, adults, and seniors that are put in jeopardy as a result of the lack of vaccination. This a positive cause towards a worthy solution.”

Anderson Regional Health System was on site of the event to administer free COVID shots for anyone that wanted to get vaccinated. The workers administered the Moderna vaccine but say the Pfizer vaccine is available.
“We know that the vaccine works”, stated M.D. Hatem Mourad. “Even if you do get COVID, it could keep you from dying and you have a much lower risk of hospitalization and severe illness after getting vaccinated. We’ve seen a spike in hospitalization and deaths from COVID in our area, so it’s important for us to educate our community about the vaccination and encourage them so they can do better.”

Vaccination rates in Lauderdale county are up to 50%. The next lunch and learn will be held on noon Thursday , September 30th at Freedom Rock Cathedral.
