Vietnam Traveling Wall on Display in Meridian.

jroby5

Meridian, MS - A goal of the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is to help bring awareness suicide. Stronger Together Foundation President Mike Couch feels the travelling wall helps to gain visitors attention. "There’s 58,000 names on the Vietnam wall, and it’s known as the wall of healing. And we’ve lost 54,000 to suicide since 9/11. We wanted to create a visual, that we could start the healing, and let people know that we’ve got a crisis that our veterans and service members are in, and we need to do better. It's about veterans helping veterans.”

Mike hopes that as visitors look at the wall display, that they feel a sense of pride for the fallen. “They stood up for what America believed in, and we need to remember them, honor them, and pay respects to our veterans.”

Visitors Van McCarty of Meridian, Bob walker of Louisiana, and Sebastian Campbell II of Ohio are proud to show respect to those that have fallen.

“Just take a moment to reflect on some of these men and women on the wall here that drew their last breath in Vietnam.” - Van McCarty

“They served their country in a really rough time; all these names remind you of that fact.” - Bob walker

“I’m glad that they have this here so people can know the history, and not forget about the people who came before us and made sacrifices.” - Sebastian Campbell II

The wall will be on display through this weekend for those who may have not had a chance to come out earlier today.
