The Mississippi Children’s Museum in Meridian Partners, and the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian made their first delivery of lift kits for a virtual field trip experience to West Lauderdale Elementary School.
The virtual field trip experience is being conducted through the Mississippi Children’s Museum , and will give a virtual tour of the Meridian Airport, allowing students to learn about its significant history, airport operations, careers, and the science of flight. The lift kits delivered contain aviation-themed worksheets for science, math, and reading supplies for a flight experiment for students.

“We are really excited to be a part of this virtual field trip for our local area children. Due to COVID, they have not been able to go on any field trips this year, so we saw an opportunity educationally to introduce the airline industry, --which is a big industry in Meridian. So, just to introduce this to children and to give them a learning opportunity,” said Caroline Compton, MCM project chair for the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian
More than 500 lift kits for have been requested by teachers in the Lauderdale County School District, who plan to incorporate the virtual field trip experience in their lesson plans.
