As the November Election quickly approaches, Circuit Clerk Donna Jill Johnson of Lauderdale County informs residents to register to vote by the deadline, which is Monday, October 5th for Mississippians.
In order for you to vote, you must vote in your correct precinct, which means every time you have moved to a different area, your circuit clerk’s office should be notified.
“If you’re new to the area--you’ve got friends, relatives, co-workers and neighbors that you know are probably new so help reminder them that they need to come register," says Johnson. "We want everyone eligible to vote in their legal voting place to so if your name and address has changed, please come see us so we can make sure your vote counts.”
Although, registration is available online, Johnson advices voters to register in-person.
“We’ve had some glitches with the system registering online. We had some glitches out at the highway patrol at DPS where people’s paperwork did not get sent in. So if you want to make sure that you’re registered to vote, I would encourage anyone that can to go into their local circuit clerk’s office.”
Additionally, all 82 circuit clerk’s offices in Mississippi will be open this Saturday for voter registration from 8AM to noon.
