WE SPEAK WITH LOCAL RESIDENTS ON THEIR THOUGHTS ABOUT BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING VERSUS CYBER MONDAY.

THE DAYS OF BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING FOR MOST ARE A THING OF THE PAST , BUT THERE ARE MANY THAT STILL LIKE TO KEEP THE TRADITION ALIVE AND WELL. TWIN STATES NEWS DANNY TODD SPEAKS WITH LOCALS, AND THEIR THOUGHTS ON THE BIG DAY.

BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING IS A TRADITION HELD BY MANY IN THE AREA , HOWEVER WE ARE SEEING AN INFLUX OF PEOPLE WHO ARE WANTING TO STAY HOME, AND GET THOSE SAME DEALS. WE SPEAK WITH RESIDENTS OF MERIDIAN, AND SURROUNDING AREAS TO SEE THEIR THOUGHTS ON CYBER MONDAY.... VERSUS BLACK FRIDAY.

RYAN HANNER, AN EMPLOYEE WITH NEWTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT SAYS "PERSONALLY I DON'T LIKE THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING. IT'S NORMALLY A BUNCH OF PEOPLE IN THE STORE FIGHTING OVER DISCOUNTED PRODUCTS LITERALLY THE NIGHT AFTER YOU'RE EATING A BIG DINNER AS A FAMILY AND BEING THANKFUL FOR WHAT YOU DO HAVE. PERSONALLY I JUST LIKE TO CHILL AT THE HOUSE AND DO MY BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING ONLINE. IT'S NOT WORTH GOING TO THE STORE AND FIGHTING OVER A TWO DOLLAR BED SHEET."

WE ALSO RECIEVED A COMMENT ON THE SUBJECT VIA FACEBOOK, AND LAUREN JONES THOMPSON IS A LOCAL RESIDENT THAT TELLS TWIN STATES NEWS THAT THE ONLY THING SHE DOESN'T LIKE IS THE STORES OPENING ON THANKSGIVING DAY. SHE THINKS THAT DAY SHOULD BE SPENT WITH THE FAMILY. SHE EVEN TALKS ABOUT SITTING AROUND WITH HER FAMILY ON THANKSGIVING DAY LOOKING THROUGH THE SALE ADS, AND MARKING WHAT THEY WANT TO BUY; THEN GO OUT AS A FAMILY FOR BLACK FRIDAY, AND CREATE MEMORIES THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME.

BRITTANY FARMER IS AN ENTREPRENEUR AND SHE SAYS "AS A KID I LOVED GOING BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING WITH MY GRANDPARENTS, AND I LOVED IT AS AN ADULT TOO, BUT WITH FOUR KIDS, AND COVID GOING AROUND AGAIN I FIND IT MUCH SAFER AND MORE CONVENIENT TO SHOP ONLINE AT HOME."

BLACK FRIDAY HAS BEEN KNOWN TO HAVE BEEN CREATED IN THE EARLY 1950'S WHEN A LARGE NUMBERS OF WORKERS WOULD CALL IN SICK THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING TO HAVE A FOUR- FIVE DAY WEEKEND WITH THEIR LOVED ONES.

WE'D LOVE FOR YOU TO GET IN ON THE DEBATE OF WHAT YOU'D PREFER.

BE SURE TO INTERACT IN THE COMMENTS, AND LET US KNOW WHICH SIDE OF THE FENCE YOU'RE ON. DO YOU PREFER IN PERSON BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING, OR DO YOU PREFER THE CONVENIENCE OF YOUR OWN HOME AND GETTING THE DEALS ON CYBER MONDAY?

DANNY TODD, TWIN STATES NEWS, MERIDIAN.
