The Wesley House Community Center brought Christmas in early today by giving out more than eight hundred bags filled with food for Christmas dinner and distributing toys for about three hundred children.

Christmas came early for some today. The Wesley House Community Center is distributing toys and bikes for kids and also giving out their Christmas meal bags. I spoke with some people who say that it truly feels like Christmas thanks to the Wesley House.
“It’s just a blessing to have them giving us this stuff because a lot of people, like myself appreciate it. I thank God for it, it’s just another blessed day,” said Willie Pearlhorn.

Another Meridian resident said she’s appreciative because she was not sure if she would be able to give her children presents but thanks to the Wesley House, they will have plenty.
“It’s nice because a lot of families don’t know if they’re going to be able to get their kids toys. I was one of them, but then I figured out something so now they get more”, stated Mynisha Pearson.

Executive director of the Wesely House, Rev. David Shultz says, between giving out the food bags for Christmas dinner and being able to provide toys for children is the true union of the Christmas holiday.
“This is the combination of Christmas. The toys, the food; all that’s going out at this point. Knowing all those toys that people brought to us, all the food people have provided for us, and then to be able to see all of that on the faces of the people as we distribute it. That’s the awesome part of Christmas for us”, said Rev. Shultz.
By the end of the day the Wesley House will have given out more than 700 bags of food and about 350 children will have gotten a bag filled with toys.
