The Wesley House Community Center will be handing out Thanksgiving food bags Monday and Tuesday to families in need. The deadline for applications to receive a bag has now closed, but the organization says applications for Christmas bags will open November 30th through December 11th. Food items include canned goods, fresh apples, a Thanksgiving hen and more.
“We have been doing bags on the drive-thru outside and we’ve been doing over 1,000 bags a month since April,” says Director of Christian Relief Andy Hodges. “I just think at this time there are so many people out there that don’t have, but are used to having and it’s hard for them to come in and ask for help. We try to make it as non complicated as possible.”
To pick up food, all drivers need is their picture identification and social security card. The organization is also looking for volunteers to help bag and distribute the food. For more information on that, visit EASTMSHub.org.
