For kids Christmas means toys. Experts said that this year it could be a shortage of toys, but the Wesley House is not having that problem. Over the weekend they were able to collect toys for more than 300 kids.

The Wesley House Community Center held their 11th annual Biker United Toy Drive where they collected all kinds of toys from barbie dolls, toy trucks, and they even got a deal on tons of basketballs and footballs. Rev. David Schultz, executive director for the Wesley House, says that this may have been the best turnout they’ve had over the years.
“Whether it was the bikers on Saturday or the school that’s doing toy raising this week. Whether it’s another organization that makes funds come together, it’s the community that comes together to take care of folks and kids who are in need. So therefore, we’re just at this place in the middle being the vessel between those with resources and those in need “, said Rev.Schultz.”

The community coming together to provide toys for kids who may otherwise not receive them, Schultz says is what the holidays are about. Through the drive the Wesley House and the bikers will be able to provide toys for four hundred children this year.
“A couple years ago, a mother came through with a little girl and she had two older brothers with her, and you can tell that the little girl had always had her brothers telling her that “This is my toy”. She happened to get a bicycle that year and she was so proud of that bicycle, so she said, “My bike” and her brother looked at her and she said “My bike”.
They Wesley House will give out the toys on December 21st. If you would like to donate toys you can take them to the front desk at Wesley House.
