WILDCAT WAGON LEARNING

It’s a great day for the Meridian Public School district, which officially cut the ribbon on their new learning program, “Wildcat Wagon”.

The Wildcat Wagon Mobile Learning Lab is the new extension of the Meridian Public School District. The program is dedicated to meet students where they are in their learning process. Students will be able to check out books, take AR tests, and receive reading support.

“What this will do is it will go where the children and the families are, it takes the learning into the community rather than requiring families to go to it; it comes to them. So it provides an opportunity for children to check out books, take AR tests, and get instruction from a teacher on a skill that they may be struggling with “ said Principal of TJ Lower Kelly McVay.

The school district is hoping the mobile learning center will close the gap on the “summer slide” when children get out of school for the summer and then return in the fall.

“It provides an opportunity for parents that want to help their students. Parents all the time go to conferences and the teacher says well your child is struggling with phonics. That means nothing to most parents but they can come to the Wild Cat Wagon now and say my child needs some help with phonics. What can I do and somebody will sit down with them", said Principal of TJ Lower Kelly McVay.

The WildCat Wagon is designed to bring learning to children. The district will provide schedules of when the bus will be each neighbor.
