WITH OCTOBER COMING TO AN END, THE GIVING SEASON IS UPON US!

NOW THAT NOVEMBER IS HERE, THE SALVATION ARMY AND CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK OF MERIDIAN ARE KICKING OFF THEIR ANNUAL ANGEL TREE PROGRAM.

AND THIS YEAR, TWIN STATES NEWS DANNY TODD REPORTS THERE’S SOMETHING NEW.

October is over and the official giving season is upon us, and what better way to help out your community than by participating in the Salvation Army's Angel Tree? Lieutenant Roy Fisher speaks with us about, some changes that we may see on this year's trees.

Lt. Roy Fisher tells us that every year has always been up to the age of 12, but this year they put a twist on it and havve actually added seniors that are 60 and above.

Lieutenant Roy Fisher says So often our senior citizens are forgotten. This time of year and it's important for the Salvation Army to look after them the same way they do for the children in the area. Citizens National Bank Regional President Neil Henry tells Twin States News what it means for the bank to be able to partner with the Salvation Army.

The Meridian Regional President of Citizens National Bank tells Twin States News they love to support our community and this is a way that they can help and support all the people in Meridian, Lauderdale County.

Neil Henry tells us the bank can service the area through its branches in Meridian and Philadelphia. Local families can come in, pick an angel, then go shop for the gifts listed on the angel.

Lela Tisdale says that this is a long-standing tradition that really makes a difference in our community, and the bank has really loved partnering with the Salvation Army for well over 20 years. She says they recognize THE SALVATION ARMY as one of their official community partners, and it's just a cause that everyone that works here really gathers around and enjoys supporting.

The angel tree will continue through December 7th, and if you're interested in participating in this event, Lieutenant Fisher breaks it down with these three easy steps.

(Lt. Roy Fisher) : We have instructions that make it so much easier. 1- You choose an angel. 2-You write the angel code on the outside of the angel's items. 3- You return it back to Citizens National Bank or Uptown Meridian Mall.

Lt. Roy Fisher also shines a light on their upcoming kettlebell services. He stressed that participation this year has been low, but They are eager to become fully staffed for this holiday season. If you may be interested in volunteering or having a part-time job with a positive impact on your community please call 601-483-6156 for more information.
