Young Voters express their reasons for voting ahead of the General Election.

Meridian, MS - Voting is your right as an American citizen, and with the Mississippi general election only five days away everyone should be reminded of how important it is.

Twin States News asked some of the younger citizens their opinion on voting.

MCC Student, Alison Dill, had this to say.

“I also feel it's more important to form your own opinion and what you truly believe in, and maybe not so much based on what you're used to hearing or things like that. You might not agree with what everybody thinks.“

She wasn’t the only person who felt that way.

Twin States also talked to a former MCC student, Makeem Roberts, about the importance of voting.

“When you turn 21 you should be able to express your opinion. You’ve got a long way to go. You’re able to vote, so why not vote, you know? We want to see Mississippi get better and better every year.”

Mr. Roberts also tells Twin States News what the elected officials should do to help the state.

“I hope they change the city and the culture. Like just for some of the things, some of the stuff we might need in Mississippi as far as extra aids or anything that will help people that don’t have as much as everybody else.”
